Wolfchild is a platform game originally released for the Amiga and the Atari ST by Core Design in 1992. It was later released for the SNES, Mega Drive/Genesis, Sega CD, Sega Master System, and Sega Game Gear.

The plot revolves around biotechnology researcher Kal Morrow and his son Saul. When the former is kidnapped by the evil Chimera organization, Saul uses one of his father's inventions to turn himself into a wolf-human hybrid (similar to a werewolf) that may be capable of defeating Chimera.

Wolfchild was designed by Simon Phipps, also responsible for the earlier Switchblade 2, a rather similar game. The action is viewed from the side and scrolls in eight directions. The player must guide Saul through five levels, negotiating platforms and shooting various monsters, the result of Chimera experiments. Initially, the player character is Saul in his normal, human form. Only when enough energy has been collected does he turn into a wolf-human, giving him much better attack techniques.

Wizardry V: Heart of the Maelstrom is the fifth scenario in the Wizardry series of role-playing video games. It was published in 1988 by Sir-Tech Software, Inc. for the Commodore 64, Apple II and as a PC booter (using DOS). A port for the SNES and FM Towns was later developed and published by ASCII Entertainment in Japan. Wizardry V was released in the US for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System by Capcom in April 1994, and subsequently re-released for the Satellaview subsystem under then name BS Wizardry 5.

The Wizard of Oz is a Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game which is loosely based on the classic movie The Wizard of Oz. It was released by Manley and Associates (now Electronic Arts) in 1993. The object in the game is to defeat the Wicked Witch of the West that is trying to take Dorothy's ruby slippers so that Dorothy can return to Kansas.

Winter Olympics, released in the United States as Winter Olympic Games, is the official video game of the XVII Olympic Winter Games. All versions were published by U.S. Gold, the rightsholder; home computer versions (Amiga and PC) were developed by ID Software (not to be confused with id Software) and console versions (GG, MD/Gen, Master System, Super NES) were developed by Tiertex. The game featured 10 winter sporting events. There are also major differences between platforms. Players can represent countries from all over the world.

Tommy Moe's Winter Extreme: Skiing & Snowboarding is a winter sports video game for the Super NES/Famicom that uses skiing and snowboarding as extreme sports in either freestyle, training mode, or competition mode. The game is known as Ski Paradise with Snowboard (スキーパラダイス WITH スノーボード^?) in Japan and Val d'Isere Championship in Europe.

Wings 2: Aces High (スカイミッション^?, lit. "Sky Mission") is the Super Nintendo Entertainment System sequel to the Amiga game Wings that takes place during World War I (though the developer is Malibu, rather than Cinemaware). The game was sold in Europe as Blazing Skies. A realistic aerodynamics system is used in the game that replicates the physics of a World War I biplane. Many of the loop-de-loops that are possible in modern aircraft were not possible given the limited speed and velocity of the early 20th century flying machines.

Wing Commander is the first, eponymous game in Chris Roberts' science fiction space simulation franchise Wing Commander by Origin Systems. The game was first released for the PC DOS on September 26, 1990 and was later ported to the Amiga, CD32 (256-color), Sega CD and the SNES, and re-released for the PC as Wing Commander I in 1994. An enhanced remake Super Wing Commander was made for the 3DO in 1994, later ported to the Macintosh.

The game was a marked departure from the standard formula, bringing space combat to a level approaching the Star Wars films. Set in the year 2654 and characterized by Chris Roberts as "World War II in space," it features a multinational cast of pilots from the "Terran Confederation" flying missions against the predatory, aggressive Kilrathi, a feline warrior race (heavily inspired by the Kzinti of Larry Niven's Known Space universe).

Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits is a video game anthology for the Super NES, PlayStation, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Game.com, and Dreamcast game consoles. It was also released for DOS and Windows.

The DOS, Windows, and GAME.com versions go under the name Williams Arcade Classics.

WildSnake, known as Super Snakey in Japan, is a puzzle video game. Players must manage falling snakes in a confined space and keep the snakes from reaching the top of the space.

True Golf Classics: Wicked 18 - known in Japan as New 3D Golf Simulation: Devil's Course (New 3D Golf Simulation: デビルズコース^?) is a golfing video game originally released in 1993 for the Super NES. A version was later released for the 3DO and the Sega Mega Drive. The game takes place on a very difficult otherworldly golf course. It is part of T&E Soft's "True Golf Classics" series, but unlike other games in the series which portray actual golf courses such as Pebble Beach and Waialae Country Club, Wicked 18 portrays an entirely fictitious golf course.

Whizz is an Action game, developed by Flair Software and published by Titus Software, which was released in 1996.

The 1989 version of Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego? is a multiplatform video game where players have to travel through time to collect the clue and the warrant necessary to capture Carmen Sandiego or one of her henchmen. The goal of this game is to track Carmen's villains through history and arrest them and ultimately arrest Carmen herself.

Similar to World, the player plays as a secret agent for the Acme Detective Agency, and has to use the research books to crack the clues given to them on where the crook went to, and also decode the physical attributes or interests of the crook based on other clues. They must achieve both these objectives in order to secure an arrest warrant, which allows them to identify the person at the end of the case as the crook. The player travels through time and space with a device known within the Carmen Sandiego universe as the Chronoskimmer. The game is time limited, and every action one takes uses up some of that time; the player needs to solve the case within the allotted time in order to be successful. As well as teaching the player about both geography and history it also provides practice with using a research book – the New American Desk Encyclopedia comes with the game for assistance. The people, events, and inventions featured in the game hail from period in history ranging from 400 AD to the 1950s – the past 1500 years of human history. The game comes with a 28-page instruction manual.

This was the first game in the series to establish that ACME Headquarters is located in San Francisco.

We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story is an Action game, developed by Visual Concepts and published by Hi-Tech, which was released in Europe in 1993.

Weaponlord is a fighting game developed by Visual Concepts and published by Namco for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in October 1995. As in other fighting games, Weaponlord has players select a character and defeat a series of opponents. The game is a weapons-based fighter, with various gory moves and a deep counterattack system. Project leads James Goddard and Dave Winstead aimed to design a title for enthusiasts of the fighting game genre. Unlike many other fighting games of the time, WeaponLord was designed specifically for home consoles and was one of the first fighting games optimized for online play. It has also been cited as the basis for Namco's Soul Edge/Calibur series.

WCW SuperBrawl Wrestling is a video game released for the SNES in 1994. The third World Championship Wrestling (WCW) video game, it is named after the pay-per-view, SuperBrawl. It was the only WCW game to be released on the Super Nintendo, and the last to be produced by FCI.
